David C. Brown Funeral Home was established in Belleville on April 5, 1982. An old Moose lodge building was remodeled in 1981, and has had many updates and additions since then. On Sunday evening, August 5, 2012, an electrical fire severely damaged the upstairs apartment and the garage areas. We operated out of the former Katherine Rose flower shop across Clarence Street from the funeral home, for nearly two years. We moved back into our funeral home Friday, July 18, 2014, and hosted a Grand Reopening event for our community on Sunday, August 3, 2014. Thank you to everyone for all your support!
Our funeral home is a member of National Selected Morticians, the Order of the Golden Rule, the National Funeral Directors Association, and the Michigan Funeral Directors Association. We are proud to be a ten-time Pursuit of Excellence award winner.
In 1994, we opened the Brown Family Center. It provides an ‘off-premise’ setting where Kathie Steigerwald our pre-need consultant offers pre-need counseling, and monuments and markers.
Our funeral home was instrumental in bringing the Angel of Hope statue and garden to Belleville’s Hillside Cemetery (see calendar on home page). We also organize the "Thunder Rolls in Belleville" Veteran’s Memorial Day Celebration (see calendar) as well as the annual Tree of Remembrance ceremony on the Monday before Thanksgiving(see calendar).
